This is a picture of the transmission, a Ford T&C Toploader 4 speed transmission, with a Hurst Super Shifter 3  short shift linkage setup....very short shifts. This is a Ford Big input, long tailshaft transmission whish is close ratio, with a 2.32 first. This transmission in both short and long tailshaft only came behind Ford 427, 428 &429 motors.  Ford used the small input Toploader for all other Ford motors. This transmission was the Nascar standard for many years and is the basis for the modern Jerrico's now used. They are bullit proof and can handle high horsepower and torque.
