Here you can see after the previous
pictures showing the measurements.....the cross member had to be installed
around 22 inches ahead of the postion of the rear axle....so it was very
important to locate the center of the rear axle assembly on the top of the rear
frame allowing one to figure the position where it was cut into the original
Willys frame. This back half installation would also require the removal of the
stock "X" member...in this photo, it was cut enough to install the crossmember,
but was not completely removed till the new crossmember was fully welded in.
Later, we would add additional 2x3inch channel from the crossmember forward into
the frame rails to tie everything together.
